Wear: Victorian Boots

Victorian boots in my wardrobe

Well, Victorian-styled boots anyway.

So many

Once, in a throw-away comment on Twitter, seen by perhaps 3 actual people, I said that I could make a steampunk costume out of the things that already existed in my wardrobe (baring a corset and a hat).  The boots I have sorted.
The oldest boots are those in the middle. I'm not sure how old they are, but I'm guessing nearly 10 years or so.  The black ones came first, from then Kumfs (now Ziera Shoes) and then shortly after the brown, because I loved the black so much that I knew I'd have to get the brown as well. This was an expensive decision, but I think on a cost-per-wear analysis, it's well and truly paid off.

The tall boots are also from Ziera/Kumfs and an even more expensive decision*. This time it was the red ones first, then I really just had to get the black as well (that's just sensible).

I'm not sure where the lighter brown boots are from (second from the left), and they haven't been my favourite, but with the addition of a sports insole I think I'm going to be wearing them a lot more.

The final (first on the left) pair are from Mather's Shoes and are the Belgard by Spring Step and are an almost perfect pair of Steampunk boots.  The only think that could make them more perfect would be a Louie heel.  They're reasonably comfortable, but the addition of a sports insole has helped with that as well.

Where next

Well, I love the look of the built-in spats on my newest pair. And I think that would be a great way to add a little variation to the boots I have without buying new ones**, so spats it is!

* MrIcy was not pleased at the time.
** MrIcy would prefer I not buy new shoes. I'm afraid I'm unable to accommodate this wish.
